Pamela Wolfe

Your Occupation: Retired. I spent 17 years at FWFD in Safety Education at Safety Village, and 8 years at Three Rivers Running Company. I retired in March of 2017.
How long have you been on the committee? Originally I learned to run with the Rats in Training in 2006. I started on the committee in 2008, and I took over as Director of the race in 2010.
What is your job on the committee? Race Director
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? Giving back to the community. 
What is your most memorable experience with the event? Watching the faces of the runners passing the finish line.

What is your most memorable experience with the event? Aside from running it, that would be maintaining the website you know and love!

How long have you been on the committee?
Since it began in 2000. I created the race and was the initial race director.
What is your job on the committee?
Course Marshall, etc.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
Mostly, I enjoy the fact that so many people love the event. I also love working with others on the committee and watching it all come together.
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
There are several, but probably the first year. There was so much anxiety getting a major event to take place downtown. There were not downtown races for several years at that time. We certainly had to work out some kinks.

I enjoy the opportunity to work with some of the best people in the running community!
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
My most memorable experience was running in the River City Rat Race for the past several years. Last year, I just jumped in to assist in the setup before and tear down after the race.

This is my second year on the Rat Race Committee. I was recruited from being a regular at the Central YMCA Branch.
What is your job on the committee?
Committee Member
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
Promoting the Central YMCA with the fun, positive staff and members that make up the organization.
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
Sporting Halloween costumes for packet pickup night.

Your Occupation: I am the Executive Director of Central YMCA.
How long have you been on the committee?
Three years.
What is your job on the committee?
Organize the food tent for the runners.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
Cheering on the funners after they complete the race!
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
When the donations to our YMCA from the Rat Race broke $100,000 cumulative amount!

How long have you been on the committee?
Since 2009.
What is your job on the committee?
Advertising, Rats in Training, Race Day Signage and whatever “The Big Cheese” needs done.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
Working with great people who are also fellow runners and working for a great cause for the YMCA Strong Kids Program.
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
Seeing many of the “Rats in Training” finish their first race or achieve their running goals. Also seeing former “Rats” continue in other races.

Currently in charge of door prizes.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
Beautiful course and great committee.
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
Running through the crunching leaves and smell of fall!

How long have you been on the committee?
I have been on the Committee I believe since 2011, time goes fast!
What is your job on the committee?
I have had a few different jobs on the committee, but the last few years have been in charge of water stations.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
The weather is usually ideal for running, so seeing people in the community being active and running a race for a great cause on a beautiful Sunday afternoon is something I always look forward to!
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
I ran the event in 2009 for the first time, at that time the 10K was the furthest I had ever run. I remember the fall colors being beautiful and being appreciative of having the opportunity to run that day!

How long have you been on the committee?
This will be my second season.
What is your job on the committee?
Promote within my network and also volunteer on race day. I am in charge of race day packet pickup including the setup and tear down. Also attend meetings and be available for anything asked of me. :)
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
I enjoy the accountability. I love working with this amazing group of people to ensure the best season yet!
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
I am newer to the racing circuit in Fort Wayne, and I LOVED the “community feel” of last years’ race. My daughter and I volunteered last year to be a time keeper at mile 2. Something I’ve never seen before and truly appreciated! I’ve raced in many cities, and was very much drawn to the love and support felt right here in Fort Wayne! I now enjoy being a part of helping this race THRIVE!

How long have you been on the committee?
This will be my second year!
What is your job on the committee?
I have helped with the Committee’s bios on the website, and this will be my first year helping with Rats In Training.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?
I ran this race for the first time 3 years ago and started in Rats In Training. I was never a runner and joining Rats In Training and meeting Stephen and the other coaches started my love for running.
What is your most memorable experience with the event?
The first year I ran definitely. Stephen ran with me from around mile 2 and on. He helped me push myself further than I had thought was possible and continued to coach me as he did at Rats In Training. Closing in on the finish line I sprinted my hardest and there was my daughter, waiting to give me a high five!
